Préfleuri allocates a generous amount of time to sports, allowing the boys and girls to engage in a wide variety of pursuits.
With extensive grounds, basket ball court, football pitch, parcours vita, outdoor swimming pool, not forgetting the forests meadows and mountains on our door step, it is not surprising that Préfleuri is noted for their outstanding Sports programme.
We believe that each child should have the opportunity to experience a range of different activities, played in a competitive, enjoyable atmosphere which seeks to encourage good sportsmanship and a healthier lifestyle through physical activity.
All of our Préfleuri virtues are highlighted throughout our Sports programme. Children are encouraged to collaborate, persevere and develop their capacity to deal with success and failure with good grace. Sports allow your children to use their energy in a healthy way, to grow physically and to learn to participate to be part of a group. Our sports programme in inclusive and all pupils participate in and enjoy sport at their own level.
Enjoyable experiences
Our overriding aim is for children to look back at their time at Préfleuri and remember them as being positive and enjoyable experiences, where they learnt life-long skills.
During the first and third term sports lessons are supervised by specialist sports teachers using our facilities in and around the school. Students are coached in a huge range of skills and techniques in a variety of team and individual sports such as: athletics, gymnastics, tennis, team sports (football, rugby, hockey, basketball,…), mountain biking, archery…
In winter we benefit from living next door to the exceptional ski resort of Villars-sur-Ollon with over 112 km of slopes, spectacular scenery and runs adapted to all abilities. Assisted by our sports teachers, all of our students ski 2 times per week with profession ski instructors from the local ski and snowboard schools of Villars.
We aim to give our students as many opportunities as possible to benefit from and experience the mountain environment: whether it be climbing, orienteering, hiking trails, ski or snowshoe, our young students learn to overcome their fears, to aim for excellence, and to enjoy challenge.
