What are the 12 Préfleuri virtues?

Our commitment is to offer an outstanding education which is based on the Official National School Curriculum, adapted to the pace of your child, that develops life long, confident learners. Furthermore, we aim to instil the 12 Préfleuri virtues.

The 12 Préfleuri Virtues

Honesty

Honesty

Honesty builds trust. We show our students that when they are honest they can be relied on, that they are trustworthy and loyal. However honesty is not only about telling the truth but it's about being real with yourself and others about who you are.

Respect

Respect

Our team and our students show respect to others, our environment, and ourselves. We help the children understand the importance of speaking and acting with courtesy, of valuing each others opinions and differences. Our emphasis on environmental awareness highlights the importance of respecting our immediate and global environment. Finally, our pupils learn the importance of self-respect, empowering our students to believe in themselves and therefore developing their true self.

Kindness

Kindness

Patty O’Grady states, ‘Children and adolescents do not learn kindness by only thinking about it and talking about it. Kindness is best learned by feeling it so that they can reproduce it.” By using positive role modelling, a caring approach, and through discussions with our students we demonstrate how we can positively change our thoughts and actions. We learn how kindness and compassion not only affects the people around us, but also has a positive impact on ourselves.

Self-discipline

Self-discipline

We teach our students to be in control of their actions and take ownership of their actions. We show them the importance of how to act rather than react. We help our students develop efficient systems so they can calmly work and organise themselves in an orderly way.

Resilience

Resilience

We help our students to work through problems and to understand that life will throw challenges at them. We strive to build resilient young people that have healthy coping mechanisms, and that are emotionally, and physically robust

Courage

Courage

We teach our students to be courageous even when they find something difficult or scary. We encourage them to try new things, to push themselves outside of their comfort zone, and to admit their mistakes.  ‘It’s okay to be afraid. It’s not okay to let the fear STOP you.’    Cupcake Brown

Encouragement

Encouragement

We teach our students the value of a positive comment, an inspiring word and even a smile. At Préfleuri we believe in the importance of supporting and encouraging each other so that our classrooms, playgrounds and sports halls are safe spaces for our children to experiment, to try new things, to learn, and to thrive.

Unity

Unity

We are proud to say that we have upheld the family spirit of Préfleuri since 1948 with our Prefleuri family now extending over many generations.  We pay particular attention to the identity of each person but we also promote team spirit through common goals, believing that to collaborate is to learn and to learn is to collaborate. "Alone we go faster, together we go further (African Proverb)

Friendliness

Friendliness

We teach our students the importance of being a friend in good times and bad, to be loyal. Our students understand the value of taking an interest in other people, to be welcoming, inclusive, compassionate and caring.

Collaboration

Collaboration

At Préfleuri we learn how to work successfully with others. We find out what it means to be a team-player, to gain trust and to trust, to value and respect each other, and to develop the art of listening.

Perseverance

Perseverance

We inspire and empower our students to always give their very best, to strive for excellence, to see things through to very end, and to not give up. We aim to teach them that mastery comes through tenacity.

Determination

Determination

Our students learn to focus on a problem until a solution is found, to have the patience to master a concept, the courage to keep going, and to view failure as an opportunity for growth.
