At Préfleuri, pupils are encouraged to express themselves creatively. Each theme studied provides the opportunity to practice making presentations, have workshops, create plays, use computers and creative software, even prepare themed meals…
Art
Our curriculum includes weekly art lessons. Pupils are encouraged to create, experiment, invent, and express their imagination. We challenge and inspire our pupils to create their own works of art, craft and design. We encourage our students to use and develop a variety of techniques and allow them to experiment using different mediums and materials.
We learn about famous artists and designers and use their work to inspire our creations. The children gain an historical understanding of artistic periods and significant artists.
Themed mealtimes…
Each term, a particular topic is developed and is used as teaching tool for history, geography, arts and crafts, decoration, theatre and gastronomy. Thus, for a whole day, the school is transported to the times of the Romans or of the Knights, or becomes an Asian or African village…
Music
Music and singing are an integral part of the school curriculum at Préfleuri. We endeavor to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music, to increase their self-confidence and encourage their individual talents.
‘Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.’
Plato
Our whole school choir enables all our students to use their voices expressively by singing songs in French and in English. Our students are encouraged to perform in solo and ensemble contexts using their voices with increasing accuracy and control. Several times a year our choir performs in public and it is always an opportunity to transmit the dynamism and joy of Préfleuri to the families around us.
Every child has the opportunity to take private music lessons during their schooling at Préfleuri. A qualified music teacher offers tuition in piano, singing and guitar. The school welcomes all musical instruments and endeavours to satisfy all requests from parents and pupils.
